What could be causing my car to idle at 2,500 rpm? bad sensor somewhere? I'm not getting any codes.

Re: idleing at 2,500 rpm
No obvious vacuum leaks or something crazy like crap blocking the throttle open? Is your SES flashing when you start the car to let you know all is good?
Also, I'm not sure at what idle speed the Idle Air Control valve is maxed out at, but 2500 sounds about right for something like that to be happening, like something is causing it to stick wide open. Maybe it needs to be investigated, wiring checked, valve cleaned, tested if possible, and maybe replaced. It could be other things so post back what you find.

It's gotta be a vacuum leak...!!!!!!
Just break out a can of carb cleaner and get to spraying...

Re: idleing at 2,500 rpm
the vac lines are attached to the TBI. check for cracks or detached.
spray the base of TBI at manifold and the TB shaft where it exits TB on each side.
I believe you can look into the TBI init to see if the IAC is moving and seated. I think it moves at key on and would be nearly seated at fully warm idle.

Sounds like a 9.00$ haynews manual is in your future.
IAC=Idle Air Control.
Vacuum hose= Any small rubber hose on the manifold

Re: idleing at 2,500 rpm
This may sound like a weird question but does it sound like it's idling at 2500 rpm? Is it possible your tach has gone screwy? When I fried my tach I had an indicated 2400 rpm at a 750 rpm idle. If you pulled you gauge cluster out at any time without unhooking your battery you may have damaged it.

Re: idleing at 2,500 rpm
I was working down by my peddles, and bent the metal sheild around the throttle peddle. It caused my car to idle at 3000+

Re: idleing at 2,500 rpm
i believe my cooling fan had been wired to stay on, or else the previous owner had trouble with it, but it had been rewired somehow. might be something to look into, thanks.
