Hmm, neat. Especially if you like the ghetto look.
If you're having trouble getting it to seal, I hear duct tape works well on ducts!

I have a cop car lid with a K&N 1500 and a 4" stock hose replacement like L69 to a 4" attachemnt to breather from a big block. The hose runs to a stock 4" duct that mounts to the radiator support. It feeds a 350 HO with no problems. I can tell from my scanner that it does pick up some heat and am looking to run the duct farther forward. The IAT sensor is mounted in the duct right at the support. Its not getto done right. Just cold air and more than enough of it for a 305.

Ghetto, lol, have ANY of you dips been to the track lately? The fast cars are the ones with 'ghetto' setups. That is...unless you're name is Bill Gates. Personally I think an open element is only good if you can vent out the hot underhood air.
I won't go into too much detail unless I need to BUT general rule of thumb: TPI and other direct port injection systems will react better to the cold air intake system than a TBI or carb. The wet flow system that we have is already a cooler intake charge, that's one of the perks .
I personally think semi-ghetto yet functional is the best of both worlds. Look at how much that guy spend on his intake and it works great I'm sure. If I don't manage to get a cowl hood by the summer then expect me to be using my dual snorkel HO intake with a similar look. Heck, if duct tape is what you need, do it. Let me put it into easy understanding terms for you ferrari and porsche wanna be's.....thirdgen is best bang for buck.....speed sometimes comes with the word 'ghetto' so get used to it. If you've got $230 burning a hole in your pocket for a cold air aftermarket chrome dragon flashy strobe cotton blue fitler charge system then GOOD FOR YOU but get some things straight. I'll do it better and for a lot less.
If you guys think it looks so ghetto why don't you look at your stock intake systems Now doesn't this setup look better, lol
Oh yeah, open element is the way to go but be warned....if it's the only piece of chrome on the whole engine you might get addicted to looks and forget about the bang for the buck theory.

Ooo! Just kidding about the ghetto thing! I actually think DRIER HOSE VENTING is classy!
And yes, I do think my third gen is a ferrari! Hahahahaha!

That's EXACTLY what I just did to my Camaro, except I removed the driver's side high beam housing and put a screen there, and routed the heater duct to it..it's AWESOME. I honestly suggest it to everyone; it's trick and it provided a WAY better response than my open element, Ram air or cold air like Tas's photo..it's awesome.

dipwhat? LOL I agree with JP on cheap. I'm on a tight budget too. Tas that setup looks fine. When are you going to do it? After the intake and cam install? And Tas where is the hose leading to or does it stop right behind the headlights? Ghetto LOL again. Look at a Craftsman Truck. They have almost the same material running to the headlight area! Anybody think they are ghetto?

the way im going to do mine is take my stock 92 air cleaner .take off the duct point the end of the cleaner nose towards the front of the car cut of the nose but leave about 3-4 inches . then find the dual snorkel found on tpi's and then get a straight duct that comes off a 89 chevy truck (tbI)its a perfect fit and it looks like it came from the factory (i did it on a freinds car
if you dont under stand ill try to illistrate some pics (my freind moved so i cant get pics of the one i did on his car)
