305 Tbi to 350 vortec swap

Hi, I have a 88 firebird formula with a 305 tbi, I bought a 350 vortec out of a 99 Yukon and I plan on doing a swap, I know I will probably need a new intake manifold ( don't know which, if on a budget) , but what else would I need and what problems will I run into? I'm hoping it will bolt right up, what are my chances of that? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Re: 305 Tbi to 350 vortec swap

you will need a tbi vortec intake like a edelbrock 3704 or gmpp 12496821. You will also need to install 55#hr injectors and have a prom programed .Changing the ecm from the 1228063 to the 122746 would be a good upgrade as well.

Re: 305 Tbi to 350 vortec swap

I just got done doing that swap and it wasn't as easy as it should be. Start with reading the sticky about putting a 350 in place of the 305. There is alot to do if you want to keep the TBI. It isn't cheep that is to do it right. The guys on this form have walked me through it and answered all my questions.
Good Luck

That's incorrect - you'll need 62 lb-Hr rated injectors from 5.7L (350) truck. 55 lb-Hr injectors were used on 5.0L (305) engines. Stock Vortec long block is excellent foundation for 350 TBI swap.

Kush
This is a great place for info but... pay attention to who you take advice from. The guys that help me most have been around the block and are nominally supreme members. If it wasn't for these guys I would have never gotten it done. Read the sticky in the section about what you need to do the swap. Then decide if you want to do it, I am done except the finish tune and it is the most expensive car I've done.
