I agree. Stock pumps work just fine unless you have some cooling issues, like clogging radiator, scale on inside of block, restricted air opening to radiator, no/small electric and/or direct fan, etc...

Electric pumps should only be used for drag apps. Otherwise you'll drain your battery or fry your alternator if you drive around all day with an electric pump.
Nah. Those pumps don't drain that much. Not any more than a nasty stereo and/or a nice set of driving lights. They just are not made to run that long. ie, not industrial-use motors on them. Only really made for short operations, as for street cruising and drag racing.

They are worth their weight in Gold if you need one. If you don't need it, they are a waste of money... Rather akin to an unecessary ignition upgrade or 1-3/4" tube headers when you only really need 1-5/8" tube headers. If you are not running hot (210+ all the time) and/or do not have a mondo engine combo, you won't see much additional cooling effect. IN fact, the coolant can move so fast with Stewarts at higher rpms that turbulence/cavitation in the coolant passages can cause local hot-spots, overheating and cracked heads.
They are GREAT for use in vehicles with the accessory pulleys that slow down the water pump, BTW, and run at low rpm in OD, still.

i just checked out there site and i found a posished aluminmun for 250$ who are they compaired tothe edelbrock victor, i think there the same price, but my catalogs are in the other room. 2 things, i have heavely modded 305 everything from msd probuilt, to crane cam so a waterpump is just to go with the pakage and to give it that extra nice look. im thinking im going to but a waterpump, underdrive pullies, and stainless steel hoses with my christmas $ so my engive bay will look that much nicer.

One thing I bet you are not considering is parasitic loss from the extra work being done. The extra oomph that the water pump uses to flow that water will lead to lower rear-wheel torque/hp readings, as will a fan that doesn't flex properly at high rpms. So, unless you need the extra flow to cool something, you don;t need the pump. Yeah, it sure is shiny, though, can't beat that!!!
Just a reminder.
Just a reminder.
That's not necessarily true; depending on the cut of the wheel you can have a more efficient pump without an increase in parasitic loss. A comparison would be a submarine's propellor. The US's subs have a much more efficient prop which gives better thrust, takes less power to drive, and is quieter than the Soviet/Chinese variant.
Just my two cents,

Another Stewart Components water pump recommendation here. I have their MP (Machine Polished) version. Too bad they no longer offer it. It wasn't as big a price jump as going to the hand polished one. Don't forget to get their high performance thermostat as well. Or just get a Robertshaw one and drill three 3/16 diameter holes in it. That's what they do. I made the mistake of forgetting to order it along with the water pump and had to pay extra shipping (nearly as much as the thermostat cost) to get it.
Good luck, Lon.
Good luck, Lon. yeah but i would be getting underdrive pullies as well so would it componsate for the flow, and besides i thought a colder engine was better than a warmer one, second i just got a new thermostat so would i still have to get theres, and steveiroc its actually an airflow enhancer i got from www.cfm-tech.com, it replaces the stock restrictive rin around the tbi, and is also higher, so if you wanted one and had a stock hood you couldnt get one. i know i called it an "air-foil" but i still havent changed it
