Car won't start if I don't give it throttle...

Hey everyone. My car won't start unless I give it gas. Once the engine is warm, 8/10 times, the engine will turn over no problem without the help of the throttle. This has been a problem for as long as I've had the car (over a year). Is there anything I can do to fix or at least help this issue? Any help is appreciated!

Usually not starting without throttle opening at cranking means you either have too much fuel or not enough air. Could be the idle air control valve, throttle position sensor or a leaky injector.

What is the fuel pressure at idle?

Does the pump run for two seconds when you turn the key to "Run" but DON'T start the engine?

I don't know my fuel pressure by heart. I always let the pump run before I attempt to crank the car.

If it's too much fuel, how would I go about correcting that? Should I replace the intake to see what that does? The car idles at about 500-550. Is that a reasonable idle speed or should I increase it?

You don't need to have it memorized, but you ought to check the pressure due to the problems you're having. Good to know that the fuel pump relay is working.

What does replacing the intake have to do with "too much fuel"?
Is the O2 sensor showing a rich condition?
What is the commanded idle speed, and the actual idle speed?

If you read Tibo's reply, you would maybe understand why I said to replace the air filter/ intake.

Oxygen sensor shouldn't affect startup as the oxygen sensor takes a minute or two to heat up via the exhaust. Only way an oxygen sensor is helpful at startup is if you have no start condition and the sensor is heated.
