LT1 Cam swap
I have read about guys taking the cam out of an LT1 motor and swapping it into there TBI car. Will I need anything other than the camshaft to make it work? Should I be looking for a specific year or anything like that? How much HP increase should I expect from swapping cams? Will it change the tone of my exhaust much? Anybody got an LT1 cam for sale? Sorry I'm asking so many questions, just curious. Just wanna say thanks in advance.

I'd get new valve springs just in case. Call Summit, they can set you up with the right ones.

I installed a new true roller timing chain while I was at it from Summit. I re-used my old springs, but new ones are a good idea.
If I put in a used LT1 camshaft, do I need to use assebly lube? (or what ever it is). If so, how many miles b4 I should change oil. If not, any 'special' lube proceedures to make sure valvetrain is oiled up? I will be swapping this spring (maybe early summer), and while my dad is expereinced with cars, he has never done a cam swap. So I am trying to find ALL info I can.
I just got off the phone with a Summit sales guy, after ordering the $42.95 set of K-Motion valve springs.
The Summit guy was telling me that the springs wouldn't work very well, because roller cams need more spring pressure than flat tappet.
Is this true? Are these springs going to work?

I actually had problems with the valvesprings that come in the VORTEC heads.. I had like .520 lift and they just wouldnt hold up ;-)
If i was you i would get the LS6 valve springs.
I ended up going with kmotion valve springs and they were great, but i went with the top of the line ones... not the $40 springs.. i cant remember the part #

Thanks for the input, Tas, Shane B. They're kind of already ordered, so I don't have a lot of choices.
NJSPEEDER was the one who recommended them, so if NJ's got any advice concerning K-motion and LT1 cams, I'm all ears....
