worth it to fix 305 with lifter knock before selling?

Looking to sell my 91 rs camaro but the motor has lifter knock. Im thinking of paying someone to put the summit k1103 cam and lifter kit on it to fix the knock before selling so I can get higher value. Or should I just sell as is and hopefully get someone is planning on ls swapping it and pays around what I want.for it? witch is about 2-2.5k.

car holds salvage title, has few suspension upgrades and a 01 camaro rear end I was told.

I don't think a 305 is worth fixing. Salvage title is going to make things even more difficult.

HOW do you know it's a lifter problem, and not a piston slap or rod knock or some other failure?

The other issue is that Summit cam is flat tappet, while the stock L03 has a roller cam in it. So at a minimum it is a downgrade along with also requiring new push rods (different length).

Up side is that the car appears to be in decent condition, at least the front and drivers side.

Disclose to the seller and sell as is. A cam swap will not drive the value up.

Dont even know if the car is a 305 or 350 the guy I bought from said it was a 350 but my friend said it was 305 since engine looked similar to his third gen of the same year

If by "boot" you mean "Boot Camp" , Thank you in advance, for your service!

It sounds like you know the car has a noise, that you suspect is a lifter, but might be something else(exhaust manifold?)

Sell it and advise the prospective buyer about the noise beforehand.

I have had good results using Rislone in neglected engines with lifter ticks.

Too many strikes against putting more $$$ in this car just to sell it. Cut your losses; advise potential buyers of the car's issues, and let it go, as-is.
