My Next Motor, The Early Plan

hey gang,
it is early int eh runnign but here is basically what i have planned for my next motor.
Block: 400 small block, 4-botl mains, .030 over, total displacement of 406cid
Camshaft: Trick Flow #31402002, .372/.372 lobe lift(595lift w/ 1.6 rockers), advertised duration 308in/316ex
Heads: Dart Iron Eagle, 215cc intake port, 2.07/1.60valves, 72cc combustion chamber
Fuel Delivery: a pair of stock GM tbi's(maybe ultimated, maybe not, dunno yet) with 454 injectors and a devorced afpr(to keep pressure equal to both tb's). teh computer is to be determined still, i am leanign towards teh Holley Commander950 to control teh fuel and timing.
Intake: this is teh weirdest part of the combo, i am gonan use an Edelbrock XC-8 cross ram intake. i bought this out of novelty mostly, then the rest of teh engine plan sort of grew around it.

compression on the motor will be in the 10.0-10.5 range so that it can live happily on pump gas. there are a few things i need to work out as far as the actual assembly of the engine, but from what i have seen entering the basic info into desktop dyno i shoudl be able to see well over 500hp at the crank and a very long and level torque curve with a peak over 550ft/lbs
like i said, it is very early in teh plannign stages. the assembly of this motor is not likely to start before mid summer and it will not be in teh car until early next year prolly.
i am plannign a complete tear down adn rebuild on my car that will be doen before this engien is dropped in. i plan to take this next combo into the low 10's or high 9's on all motor.

Hmm that 406 is going to be wild. I bet it will surpise a lot of people (and maybe even yourself) I hope the comp tuning goes well.

yeah, this should be fun. I just hope I'm apart of the tuning process.
Tas, I was just reading through a site that was supercharging that aust LS1 beast. It was sick and I fell in love. GM has been quoted by saying there isn't enough of a market here in the states AND insurance for it would be too high so even less sales . I say screw GM. I hate the cars they make right now. The vette and the trucks are the best part of GM, they stopped trying to compete against the mustang right when they got the upper hand with the new LS1 powerplant. Oh well, hopefully there will be a way to import that car into the states and when that happens, I hope to have the money for it.
Although....
It could be interesting just taking an LS1 and transplanting it into some other 4 door....

".372/.372"

Typo? .572/.572?

Gonna be a beast Tim

I was on the john this morning and I thought of a ZZ4 bottom end, fastburn heads, edelbrock manifold, 454 tbi, and a 200 shot

Now I just need the money.

When are you going to run your present combo? And dont say that you aren't going to because some of us have been waiting all winter for results. In fact I'm starting to wounder if you still have your car. Maybe you lost it in a poker game or something?

How many Grand Am's have LS1's?

Good luck on the build-up, curious to see how the dual TBI will go.

unfortunately as soon as motor trend started this little debate about the next gto, gm told the world that they don't see the viability of that particular car as a domestic market muscle car. they did leave the door open for a severly wateered down version(not p[lanned to feature any V8).
i think the monaro(actually built on an existing opel platform) would make an excelant 5th gen for us. it has smooth lines and big *****, what else do you need in a muscle car?

so long as it's a v8, rear wheel drive, and faster than 98% of the other cars on the road
