AIR pump learning to sing

I've run my AIR pump without the divert system bolted on for about a month, and now my AIR pump is starting to squeal. Can I just spray some white grease down there? Is it rebuildable? I can't remove it because I'd fail visual emissions inspection.

Buy a belt to bypass it as instructed in one of the Tech Articles. When it's time to test for emissions put the other belt on. Pretty simple hmm ?

Yeah. But I prefer to have everything on my car in working order. I even replace the underhood bulb when it burns out.

Yeah so do I! But that's because I NEED the bulb. You don't need the AIR pump... LOL

I think they are rebuildable, why not gut it?

It's my daily driver. If I damage the AIR pump while gutting it, I'm out a car. That's the main reason I'm interested in getting a spare.

If my VW was running I'd probably try it, but I stomped on the pedal a bit hard (racing a Mustang GT, actually.. I won too. )and bent the carb linkage. It's currently stuck at 3000 RPM. =/
