Camaro will die at stop lights?? Help please.
Ok, this has happened several times and it is starting to bug me and kind of embarrising too. The car when I brake will seem like it wants to die and then when I come to a complete stop, the car would die if I didnt have my foot on the gas.
I know I have a high performance engine, but it shouldnt be doing this. Is it a timing issue or something. I don't know why breaking would cause it to start to die though. I'm stumped. Offer any suggestions. Thanks.

I have a TH350 so i dont have OD.
I tried the idle a little higher. What should I run at? I am at 900 in Park and 750 in Drive? Thanks

Back off on the timing and see if the problem ends. I recently bumped up the timing on my 90 RS way too much and always quit at the light or when I didnt have my foot on the gas. Let me know if that helped.

if you have a carb, when you brake all tha gas inside ihe carb goes farward wich caues the float to drop and the bowls to fill up and than the engine floods out when deceleration stops

Right now the timing is set at 30 degrees. I was thinking about bumping it up to 32. Should I bump it down?
When breaking, it is not a slam on the brakes that would cause that. It is just regular breaking like going around in a parking lot riding the brake. I was wondering if the brakes are taking vacuum away from the engine? Does that sound stupid?
I will try 1000 first, thats the easiest to do. Thanks again I will see if that fixes it.

If you've ever driven a manual tranny car and not stepped on the clutch as you come to a stop, the results are the same as you are experiencing now. The convertor acts like a clutch in an automatic. Your convertor may not be un-locking as you come to a stop. When the engine dies it un-locks and when you start up you can go along fine until you have to stop again. You might want to check this.

How would I go about fixing it if it is the convertor doing that? I have the TCI Saturday Night Special one.
vaccum?`
I just put on a Holley Avenger and i have the problem when i brake hard. The car comes to a LOW idle then goes back to normal. If I brake really hard it dies (the power stering goes
). Get the vaccum tested and see what happens.

86IROC350NY-That seems like what is happening with me. I'll check that out. I actually check my power steering and it was extemely low. I wonder if that had anything, but vacuum would be a good guess. I'll see if thats it.
Also when I brake, the car will pull to the right hard. Is this something with the brakes? I know alignment is off but is it just alignment or some other problem?

I had a similar problem with my 89 TPI. It would run fine, but anytime I slowed down for a light the car would want to die (and sometimes did) I was tripping EGR codes as well. All I did was change the O2 sensor and it has been running great for the last 2 years.

Well, if it only dies at stop lights, my advice to you would be to only take roads that have stop signs. That way, you avoid stop lights, and therefore stalling alltogether.
Man, we had your Idle set at 1K like I said it should be with that motor, and you guys had to go and mess with it cause it sounded cool
For real though, we should mabye check the fuel filter out. Maybe its plugged and its not only causing this, but it could be causing your loss of top end from fuel starvation. Too bad we can't use a computer to find that out the easy way on your car! Lol no data logging with a carb.

I took it to my engine builder and he says that it is just something I need to live with with that huge of a cam. One foot on the brake, one on the gas...
HrdRockA4305-Me and Jamey thought it sounded cool with a low idle!!!
