Non third gen-brake sensor problem

My girlfriends 00 Ford Focus has been in an accident hit in the front left fender pretty bad about a month ago. The car has been fixed but just recently i noticed while driving behind her that her brake lights are on constantly. Even when the car is in Park or neutral the brakes lights are always on. Does anyone know where to look for the brake sensor? I'm thinking it must be stuck and needs to be replaced. Would it be underneath the brake pedal somewhere? I'm not sure if the accident was the cause of the problem. Maybe its Ford's quality in general Thanks for any help.

i tihnk you need to adjust the brake light switch. look on the upper part of the brake pedal, sort of under the dash. quick check would be to see if the cruse works, if not that's it, other wise you might have a problem related to the crash, but i doubt it.

The cruise is not working. It hasn't been working since the accident. I didn't think that would have anything to do with the brakes. Thanks a lot Ede.

88 what do you think shuts the cruse off when you want to stop or slow down? i'll give you one guess it's the brake light switch.

brake light switch is on the brake pedal arm. should be electrically "open" without the brake pedal depressed.

the pictures below are from a crown vic, but all fords are similar. the switch you're after is the one held on with the yellow clip.
