heater core question

alright..heres the problem the other day anti-freeze was leaking into the passenger side floor and windows were fogging up really bad..so immediatly i figured it was my heater core. however its also leaking antifreeze underneath my car and the antifreeze that was on the ground was a little foamy. i noticed a squealing comming from the hose people told me it was probably just the hose and not my heater core since it was also leaking underneath my car. any suggestions?

What RB is saying is that it is possible that a leaky hose conneection can allow coolant to run into the passenger compartment and drain out your HVAC ducting/core case. If you're lucky, that's the problem. However, accessing the hoses is half the difficulty in changing the heater cores on our cars, especially the V-8s.

That would be it... the hose end is almost up against the firewall, and there's this gasket sort of thing there that deteriorates, so if the hose is loose or whatever, it will squirt coolant past the seal into the car... yuck...

Always try the obvious first.

It's not that hard to do the hoses though, just use a box cutter to slit the hose lengthwise on the nipple. Don't try to pull it or otherwise use lots of force, you'll just end up breakign the nipples off of the heater core and creating a leak where there maybe wasn't one before.

I have also done the heater core change out and I would definitely try the hoses first. However; if it was a larger leak in the passenger compartment than it was on the ground, then your problem will be the heater core. The holes in the fire wall are not that big to leak a large amount of coolant into the passenger compartment with the heater core in place.
