I got 186mph using 14" for radius, https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...lations.shtml.
radius would be (.6*275mm/25.4)+7.5=14"
where the hell did you find a road to drive that fast?

holy crap! no way! can my car DO THAT? Its a T-top car! around 5200 they started to rattle like the car was falling apart. around 5500 i was ready to let off... and around 6200 i DID let off, but thats just because i didnt want to float the valves up there. it coulda gone on, still had some power.
with i had an overdrive tranny... then i could REALLY see how fast it would go hehe.
170 somthing eh? thats scary. no i dont think i would have gone that fast If i had a speedo. Can that be right?
where the hell did you find a road to drive that fast?
its called "The sawgrass expressway" we have it here in south florida. at about 2:00 AM its empty, and perfectly straight (almost) for about, say, 20 miles. its totally divided so cars coming the opposite direction are WAYYYY far away. and there are very few trees or objects to hit. perfect, I'd say for this sort of thing.
After I let off i snapped it into neutral and coasted... for... a LONG time... hehe... and after about 20 seconds i DID come up on a car! I coasted right by him hehe. took like 40 seconds to slow back to normal highway speeds. didnt touch the brakes...
whew thats crazy. ill have to try it again!
its only a 420 horsepower 355. It WAS A 500 horse motor, but the blowers gone for now. getting bigger blower. wonder if the blower would help out up top? yes. heh.

I still dont beleive it. Im ready to call
on myself because I dont beleive my car can do that. Then again, I DID waste that 2002 vette.... and he was doin at least 140
I think Ill avoid top speed runs until I get a speedo for now, but thanks for your concern, I will take it to heart.

Are you using your stock tach or do you have an aftermarket tach? Factory instruments are infamously inaccurate. Then again with 420 horses 165-170-ish mph top speeds isn't that far out of the question. Hell, LS1 fourthgens top out close to 160mph with 100 less hp, so......

I'm sure a 6th gear helps a lot.

6th gear? I would think 6th is too tall to try to reach top speed. I read an article somewhere where they topped out a crovette at somewhere near 160 mph, but that was in 5th.
I thought I remembered reading somewhere that a ls1 6 speed would reach 153 in 5th but was governed lower in 6th..i dont remember...I think im gonna get a t56 this summer tho...i cant wait,.

man I wigged out going 140mph, I cant even imagine what 170 feals like. NICE. It is cool that you were able to do that, but I wouldnt try it too often. What if the car that you coasted by was a cop

What about taking torque converter slippage into consideration? Last time I did a speed run was with my old 200c still in the car... got up to around 125 before having to let off for my exit
Car was still pulling fairly good too.

hey Kingtal0n is that a 9 bolt rear u have in ur car? becuz u said 2.77 gears and well the 9 bolt i got has 2.77's in it and i also have a th-350 tranny but only a slightl;y worked 305. would i notice any differnce besides the rear having a good posi and disk brakes. would i be able to feel any difference between my current rear (10 bolt not sure if it has 2.73 or 3.42's and has a worn out posi) when im crusing at about 50-55 im at about 2200-2500rpms.

The highest top speed i've seen for stock L98 cars is 145 mph. Even the later tpi vettes ran out of steam around 150 mph, not 170!
