what heads to use
I am building a 350 chevy, and am kind of at a loss for what heads to use. I was going to use the vortecs, but the added cost of intake, rockers etc. make it not worth the effort.
anyways here is what i have: 350 chevy bored .040, decked the block .020 to clean it up, crank 10/10, pistons-fed. mog. flat top ( i think the number was hp345???) supposedly 10-1 with 64cc head, cam is a comp xtreme 274 ( 487/490 lift,230/236 duration@050), cloyes heavy duty double row timing chain. the car is an 82 z-28 with 700 trans with shift kit, 3.73 auburn limited slip rear end.
probably to much info but that is it. any suggestions on heads, i have kind of been looking at the world sportsman II. 2.02, 1.60 valves, 64 cc, 200cc. any guesses on horse power output of this setup would be apreciated also. I am hoping for 350 hp????????

Get some 305 heads from the wrecker, 601, 081 or 416 castings. They are dirt cheap. Then do them according to the instructions at the end of my sig. They'll flow like Vortecs and only cost around $400

check out www.procylinderheads.com at the flow #s for Pro Lightnings, I just got a set of aluminum assembled ones for $880 shipped from www.proshaver.com , they were on sale though.
The owner said he'd do a group purchase discount at that price.

Well, people are getting well over 400 hp with regular old Vortecs. They have 170 cc runners and 1.92 intake - 1.50 exhaust valves.
350 hp will come easier than that

What are you building, a street engine or drag only?
For the street that is a lot of cam on a 350. If you want low rpm torque I would stick with a smaller grind and the 180 cc runners.

That's why I said to stick to smaller runners and cam. Your daily driveability will be much more fun and 415 hp is a lot more than you are looking for
