Getting rid of my Car.Can I stick around though?

Well guys I have to many irons in the fire. And one of them has to go.Because of the recent event with my father.I didn't get much for christmas. We where down at my cousin's house. And he has alot of old cars and trucks.I noticed a 67 chevy truck.(I have been looking for a 67-72 forever)I ask him about it.And he says that a guy was supposed to buy it but never came and got it.Well I have some money right now and I ask him how much he wanted for it.He thinks about it and says merry christmas boog.(that's my nickname)

So now I got another project. So the camaro has got to go.I have to build a motor for my truck though.I am sure I will not know everything and have some questions about the rebuild.(Basicly a stock 350 with a different cam. This is the best source of info I can find about SBC's.So I was wondering if I could stick around for those times when I would have asked my dad.So I can ask you guys.

Thanks

No Way Man!!! WHat are you crazy??? No third gen, no thirdgen.org.LOL!!!!! I think you will be allowed unless you go and buy a mustang or somethin. Besides, you will eventually get tired of that truck and get you another third gen.

86,

You're always welcome. It's not like you need a "ticket" to enter here. You're not the only one here without a ThirdGen - I know there are many more. Besides, some people put their hobbies in a box, or park them in a garage, or hang them on the basemet wall. There are others of us who have it in our blood. Whether you have the pile of metal in your basement garage or not, you still have it in you.

We might not be as fast, or as clever, or as fun to be around as those who might have helped out before, but we'll still give it a try when you ask. Like I said, any time...

At least your staying true to Cheby LOL And I don't think emissions will be a problem anymore.

Good luck, enjoy, and I (we) wish you well.

no third gen!!!!!

I agree that you will get tired of the 67 and come back to a third gen but in the meantime have fun with the P/U and enjoy the fellowship with the great guys here on thirdgen.org. Dave.

Aint gonna be happy

Have Fun with the truck. But if you are anything like me you will sooner or later be back behind the wheel of a thirdgen. I had traded my 88 IROC-Z for the pickup I have now. No more than two weeks after I had the truck did I start searching for a fixer upper thirdgen. After about five years I ended up behind the wheel of my Firebird. I would love to get an old truck like that but at the same time I do realize that I can not be without a thirdgen.

But as far as not being able to stay.....hmmm....gotta think about it.....LOL....I just hope you do post some question about your truck...Chevy is Chevy and I have noticed problems on my parents Suburban, grandpa's Blazer, or even my Chevy pickup that seem to occur on thirdgens....So again....HAVE FUN!!! and umm lets see some pics of the truck too

I went the truck route for a while. But just couldn't get that same feeling while cruising down the road. My drive back and forth to work is the most relaxing part of my day. Work is stressful and home is fun but not any where near relaxing with two kids under 4. I found that out of all the cars and trucks and SUVs I have owned nothing compares to the camaro for driving pleasure. There's just something about being that close to the road and having the power under the hood. I feel more like a pilot than a driver.

But I still have a truck for hauling parts. Life would miserable without it.

Good luck with whatever you do.

I had a 50 chevy truck and my camaro. both were in need of work, and I needed a daily driver. So the truck had to go. I love my camaro, but every time I see a early 50's chevy truck, I wish I would have kept it somehow.

Good luck on the truck, and I may be able to put you on a few good locations for parts. You picked a good year model for suspension mods.

And as far as staying on the board, anytime you need help just yell.

Well like I said.I have been looking for one these trucks froever. And the money I bought my camaro with was acctually for a truck.I just couldn't find one.

I bet I will miss my car.I may even be able to keep it.The thing is though I got alot of other projects to.

1. 78 jeep cj-5.My dad was in the middle of a frame off.

2. 69 camaro. It is on the rotisery. He put new floor pans in it.He has the qauters cut off as well as the inner and outer fender wells. It is a mess.I would like to finish it with big block power just like he wanted.

3.1990 chevy 3/4 ton 4wd extended cab.My first project vehicle. My dad and I rebuilt the motor,Swapped in a 700r4 instead of the 5 speed,New cab corners,Fixed the rust in the bed,I drove this truck for a while.

I have a few other cars spread around the property to.LOL.I am just a regular old ******* I guess.

My buddy has a 71 chevy with a built 327.The truck is in very good shape and runs awesome.I have always loved that truck and can't wait to start work on this one.

I haven't owned one a 3rd gen in probably 4 years, and I'm still here! I work on them on a regular basis, though.

Enjoy the old Iron. I concentrate all my personal car project efforts on my 78 Malibu since it's much easier to work on than later model cars with FI and such. Cheaper to fix when it goes "BOOM", too!

There's a ton of expereince on this board and most share it freely, whether it's about a 3rd gen or not. Myself included. Stick around!
