spare?

this may sound like a stupid question but, i have a 1988 trans am and I have no idea where the spare tire is...can u help?

the side panel in the rear trunk on the passengers side..

a couple of plastic screws...

In that pic, it's under the piece at the far right. There are about 3 or 4 of those enormous plastic screws that you would use a quarter or something to unscrew, the spare & jack should be in there.

Speaking of enormous plastic screws...anyone know where I can order some? And the plastic(preferably metal) clips that they screw into? The previous owner obviously had things apart and I'm missing some.

That was the idea behind those goofy looking screws, to be able to take out the important parts of the interior with nothing more than a spare quarter. I actually think that was pretty smart, it beats alot of the ones I've taken apart in the Trak-Auto parking lot.


I too could use one or two of those replacements, so I'd be interesting in hearing where to get them as well.

well auto zone has the plastic part that they screw in to. (thats were I got mine) and the screws I got from the junk yard I am sure the dealer should have those still.
