For what?

A Dominator is the universal race-specific drag-racing carb for applications above about 600 HP. Other than that, a 4150 is usually a better choice.

Depends on the size of the engine, cam choice etc. I only use a 4150 850 cfm. A 1050 or 1150 dominator may give me a couple of tenths more but the extra cost of the carb and having to get a new manifold say I run what I currently have.

If it's driven on the street at all you won't like the dominator. Even the smallest ones are gas pigs.

I called Barry Grant about the Demons, they recommend a Drag Race 340201DR 775 Carb that costs 932.00!!! Ya right no thanks. I asked around ehy the holleys were so much cheaper and found out they have been making them forever and they are just as good.

It will only be driven about once a week and is going to be mostly track.
What do you think?

Domi or 41 Series?

If it stays like that, I'd go with a 4150.

Don't go knocking the price of the Demons. Holley's HP series gets close to the quality of the Demon. You get what you pay for.

That cam & those heads... looks to me like 800 CFM ought to be enough

I agree with the above post. You go with a dominator and you won't be happy even with a 274@50 cam.The motor is just not big enough.I just bought a Holley 750 DP off my buddy this summer because he thought it was to small for his 383 Camaro that was running 10.60's in the qtr.He got a new HP 1000 and it immediatly slowed and it took him forever to tune it back to the point it was with the 750

The demons are expensive because of the quality of the product. There's more to the carbs than just looks.

The Race Demons are even more expensive because they're more tunable with parts like boosters and venturies that are removable.

All the Demon carbs have billet base plates and metering blocks. Holley still uses cast parts.

Buy a Speed Demon 850. Add a notched float for the secondaries and install jet extensions. Bolt it on and go racing. All the bells and whistles of the Race Demon are nice but not everyone needs all the extra options.

If it's for all out racing with no street driving, remove the power valves, install plugs and use the same size jets on all the corners.
