Now it won't start.

This is becoming way to much trouble! New battery, new starter, heck even a new battery cable. Car will do nothing. Lights come on, acc, etc. but no crank. Not even a click. power to the starter. Does the little purple wire have power at this point, or is it after ign? I'm stuck. It seems like the ecm is telling it not to crank. no codes, but I did not expect any until after startup. Ideas?

The purple wire carries power from the ign sw to the solenoid. No power normally, 12V with the key in Start.

Try a test light on it. If it gets a good solid 12V, then either the starter isn't grounded to the block (pretty hard for that to happen), or the starter is bad.

Just because you put another one in, doesn't necessarily mean it's good.

Do you have an alarm on the car? If so, does it work? A lot of times the alarm will kill the starter, if something happens. Wether you are using it or not. The guy that owned my car before me, broke the keypad. I was just going to get another alarm, but I never got to that. I clipped one wire be accident and that was it. Took me about to weeks to figure it out, but that is all it was.

If not, I would think that it is the key switch or the NSS, like mentioned in the previous post. The purple wire should have 12V is start. If not, check the under the shifter for the NSS, find the purple wire and check both sides (input and output) for 12v. If still nothing, trace the wire back to the bottom of the steering coloum and you will see a metal rod that moves when the key is turned forward. It might not be forcing the contacts together, and could be the problem.

In other words get the multi-meter it is time to have some fun. Post back and let us know where you are.

neutral safety is bypasses ( not the safest thing with a 5-speed) so it is not that. I will check the wire. I did check the bypass to make sure it was not the switch. Do you think the new neighbors would mind if I pushed the car outside and shot it with an AP from the .223 AR-15?

LOL

dont know

My nuetral safety is also bypassed but it did this to me also, so just make sure. I had voltage to the battery but no click or nothing. Finally fixed it and fired right up.

no alarm on the car. When cranking, I do not get any power to the purple wire at starter. I thought the NSS was located at the clutch pedal and worked like a brake light switch, am I wrong? When cranking, I am hnot recieving power to the ECM crank fuse (3 amp), all I have is a test light, all the good tools are at my fathers house. Any more ideas, I will try anything, including gunfire.

Alarms are a common starting problem believe it or not.
