Car will not stay running Dang it!
alright I have a 92 firebird TBI and soon after I got the tranny rebuilt I was out driving it and it and it started sputtering on me and I was not able to drive it home. So I had it towed and now I cannot figure out what it is. It starts up and idles perfect for about 5 seconds and then dies. If I try to give it a little gas it will just sputter out and die. Now if I feather the gas it will somewhat stay running. It is driving me nuts any help would be appreciated. Oh yea also I tried pulling the codes off the computer and all I got was a code 12.

I had a fuel pump to cause this type of problem once. It didn't provide enough fuel pressure. Have you checked the fuel pressure with a gauge? Also, you may want to change the fuel filter.

I have changed the fuel filter and it seems to be getting plenty of fuel but checking the fuel pressure is a good idea.

It restarts immediatly after it stalls out.

Definetly sounds fuel pump related to me. I had identical problems, but mine was a combination of a failing fuel pump/bad maf.
I saw your sig with your 60 Ft times.. 2002 Red SS Camaro M6
Best time so far Bone stock
13.83 at 102.83 MPH 60ft 2.28
Best MPH 103.94 Best 60FT 2.24
Get some traction for that beast, damn! My 60 foot times are better, with 2 lifters tapping and severe bogging down on my original 305!!

Sounds alot like what I just went through with my 91 Camaro 5.0L TBI.
Mine was the fuel pump. I determined it was the fuel pump by checking the pressure. The fuel pressure was low and would not hold pressure after I turned off the ignition.
After several weeks of troubleshooting all my electronic components, I replaced my fuel pump and the car is running fine now.... do yourself a favor and check the fuel pressure.

Unfortunately, a TBI engine does not have a factory installed pressure test port. You'll have to install a test adapter. The adapter I have installs in line at the filter, which makes the job a little more cumbersome since it isn't just an underhood check. I have also rigged a homemade adapter to connect to the fuel lines at the regulator on the TBI, but I've never seen one of these commercially available.
Once teh test adapter is installed, connect the test gauge and turn on the ignition to operate the pump. Read the pressure at the gauge.

I used a Summit Racing fuel pressure guage. I put it in line with the input line to the TBI. I replaced the rubber line at the front driver's side which connects the two metalic lines (one from the tank and one to the TBI on the engine). I could easily see the guage in that location and I didn't have to cut any lines to install it. It worked great.
I just hose clamped it over the existing metalic lines for a temporary solution, then took it off and put the factory line back on when done. It worked so good, I may make a permanant solution using the appropriate fittings and leave it in line.
