valve train nosie bacause of cam lobes?

is it possible to have lifter chatter in a high ramp camshaft?

i have a comp xe282hr with a 112 lsa, i have been trying to run down lifter adjustment for a while and am wonder if it is possible to have them as quiet as they would be with a stock camshaft?

or will i have a tick tick tick as long as i have this cam?....

i'm sorry to have to keep asking but i'd like to know if i am chasing a matter that i can never solve.....

i have read that you will have some valvetrain noise with certain types of ramp rates but this is rediculos.....

solid lifters make noise, preignition makes noise, other than that you have a problem

How do you know that? The only way for sure is to use a push rod checker. FWIW, I had a similar cam in my old 350 and used longer pushrods... and it ran like crap. You'll have to give us more info to make an educated guess as to your problem. Are the heads milled? What rockers are you using? Head gasket thickness? What does the wear pattern look like on the valve stems? Spring height?

sorry

the heads are afr 190's out of the box, the block is the stock deck height..

the pushrods are trickflows out of summit and have the factory 7.200 length...

the cam is a comp 282 hr with a 112 lsa ground on a small base circle

valve markings are right on......

timing is set at 6* at idle with vac adv plugged.... it has a brand new 750 speed demon and the dist is new too.....

I have that cam in a 400, with 1302 roller 1.6 rockers... doesn't make any unusual amount of noise....

In my particular combo I ended up with push rods that were at least .100" longer than "stock" (nominal), maybe even .150" long, I don't recall for sure. Every motor is different about that. The only way to get it right is to use an adjustable push rod and find the optimum length for your individual parts.

Look over the entire valve train with a magnifying glass or jeweler's loupe, try to find places where things have been rubbing that they shouldn't be. Suspect weird places, like the inner end of the push rod slot in the guide plate; or the rocker arm hitting the edge of the retainer at minimum lift (extremely likely in your setup); if you have factory rollers look at how the lifters fit in the retainer, and make sure they aren't retracting out of it so far that they push it up when they start to lift; things like that.

Turn the engine over by hand slowly with a crank socket and watch every single part of the valve train that you can see, listen for squeeks (which will sound like a tick when the engine is running), make sure nothing is rubbing anywhere that it's not supposed to.

With a small base circle cam you will almost certainly need longer push rods, just to make up for the lifters sitting farther down in the bore. But again, get an adjustable push rod, that's the only way to know for sure with any given combo what the perfect (correct) push rod length will be.
