Will this intake fit under my hood?

From the measuring i've done,it's going to be awful close.I'm replacing the 305 aluminum intake on my engine with a Weiand action plus and i'm wondering if it's going to hit my hood.My hood is the fiberglass early 80s'stock z-28 hood with the fake vents that indent into the hood some.A holley 650 with a Edelbrock 1207 drop base aircleaner sit on there now and it seems to have an inch or so of clearance,so like i said, it looks awful close.The weiand looks higher,but the carb mounting flange is at such an angle, it just might work.Can anybody put my mind at ease?

Depending on the size/drop of the air cleaner, it should work. I running a holley carb, weiand stealth(I think a bit taller), and a 14x3 K&N drop base. It just fits.

Well, heres some numbers.

Stock 1984 Z28 alum. intake:

Front = 2.950" Rear = 4.300"

Weiand Action Plus #8000 & #8014:

Front = 3.750" Rear = 4.630"

Weiand Action Plus #8004:

Front = 3.500" Rear = 4.000"

They all should fit easy.

The intake in question was a #8004 action plus,and the aircleaner is a 3-inch drop base.The general consensis is it'll fit ,so i'm gonna go at it in the morning.You've both been very helpful. Thanks.

I just recently swapped out my intake, carb & dist/coil with aftermarket, & knew my dual snorkel would not fit.

I opted to wait until after the install to try differnet cleaners to see what would fit (just figured less hassle with returns).

Good Luck!

I had an Action Plus 8024 on my old 305 with a 1" spacer, Holley 1850 carb, and a Holley drop base with a 2" filter. It all fit fine.

Hi!!

I just put a Action+ on mine a month ago - and with the same hood. No problems.

BTW...that's with the stock dual snorkle air cleaner. And yes, it made a difference in performance.

You will most likely have problems with the throttle cable bracket not lining up like it used to. I just "tweaked" (bent) mine a bit til everything lined up.

There's most likely a aftermarket bracket you could buy also- but I don't know who sells them.

I want to thank everyone who replied.I got it installed this weekend.I did have to tinker with the throttle bracket some.After a little carb adjustment,i could feel the difference just as soon as i hit the street..Car feels much"lighter".Takes less throttle to get the car moving.I would think thats got to help mileage too.
