My Comp268 is the High Energy series.....running it with 1.6 rockers. Not sure what the Hp will be. Put an ARP head bolt kit on it today and it only called for 60lbs of torque. I went about 70 with my old needle torque wrench. That's what the Gm guys recommended that sold me the l98 vette head gaskets..

Why the 1.6s? Why not go with 1.5s? I would think the lifters could handle a bigger profile than the extra load on the rockers. Also if you go with the bigger cam/1.5 you could always goto 1.6 later.

Well, had them from way back but never got around to putting them on the stock heads/cam.....Is it overkill or something?

First, your engine looks great man; I hope it runs as good as it looks. Second; I have 2 questions: 1:Why stay with a 305 2:why not clean the engine bay to match the gnarly engine?

I hope you have lots of sideways fun with that thing

A magazine a while ago, I don't know which because a good mechanic friend of mine told me, had a dyno test of the COMP XE262 vs the XE268.

Mind you this was on a 110LSA, not 114 like TPI cars would see...

The bigger 268 made 3 more horse power, but lost 10ftlbs of torque to the smaller 262.

Come told me to go with a 262 for my TPI on a 114LSA, because I'd see better throttle response and torque because it has a higher velocity.

And another guy I know with a 69 Camaro pulls the wheels off the ground with drag radials, ladder bars, and worked 350 w/ the 262cam.

ok 87daddyformula.... Got to think'in on the clean engine bay idea and you're right.. Thought I'd better take care of that one before I add anything else....Had planned to take care of the cleaning later ,but figured it would be easier to get to things now.... I chose the 305 because it was the stock low mileage block with exceptional service records. Was always impressed with the clean runnin oil too... I know it's not much for severe duty, but this motor top-end build has sure been a good experience for when I go to droppin in a 383 or 4XX later on... And here's some clean engine bay pics to add.....

Thats awesome man...I can't believe how much more that compliments the engine...Was the engine build straight forward enough for a first time builder like myself to do?

Props to ya man:hail:
