roller rocker dilema
i have found out that my 1.5 ratio 3/8" stud roller rockers are summit aluminum part number SUM-G6910B. nowhere on the summit site does it say anything about centerbolt valve cover compatibility. Are these rockers OK to use with centerbolt valve covers, if not i think i know why my car is having so many problems.
thanks
thanks
Hey! a fellow M*******! LOL! I'm in Longmedow (outside Springfield). Have you checked out the regional messege board? Guess someone is starting/started a 3gen car club. Know anything about it?

AFAIK the only self-aligning ones with a narrow enough body for the centerbolt boss thing to fit between them are the Crane aluminum ones, which you can also get from GM. Personally I will not put aluminum roller rockers on a motor I intend to drive on the street, but that's just me; I like to drive my car and leave the hood closed alot.
But that may or may not have anything to do with "problems" your car is having. What are these "problems"?

I've never tried to install those in a center-bolt situation, so I couldn't say. They do appear to be somewhat wider at the trunnion than the inferior aluminum Crane product though. Others report that they had to "modify" their valve covers a bit to use the Comps.
"Modify"...
That's such a broad term. Installing chrome lug nuts wou be to "modify". Michael Jackson has also been "modified"...
It's just a matter of degree, I guess.
I did notice the wide trunion on the Comp steel rollers and wondered.
Thanks.
