Plug looks ok, a little lean, but still ok. Dunno about the cap though.

Make sure you have the cap seated correctly on the distributor body. The squared-off part that fits over the electrical plugs is sometimes difficult to line up correctly- there's a lip it has to sit inside of. If you don't the screws can loosen up due to the cap sitting slightly cocked.

Take a flat metal file to the contacts inside the cap to get rid of any carbon tracking. Make sure to file the contacts FLAT and not at an angle. See https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=162251 for a big tuneup list, too.

If you're in a pinch, you could clean up the terminals in the cap. However, since it looks like a plain old aluminum terminal cap with nearly no flashover control, I'd trash it and find a brass terminal cap with deeper arc chutes. Get a rotor to match.

If your out to save some cash, clean it.. it'll work for you for awhile. Hey, if you got a few bucks, get a brass cap as Vader suggested.

Any decent auto parts store will have them. Just ask for one with brass contacts.

Some good brand names that use them are Wells, MSI, Proform.

All the speed shops will carry them. They are "de rigeur," as the French say.
