New motor dyno results
Alright went to get my car dynoed today. 290hp and 326ft/tq.Not to bad Almost in ls1 territory. My belts flew off by the end of the run but didnt damage anything. Specs are in the sig. What do you guys think?
you know what is amazing, GM did a total redesign on the LS1 heads from top to bottom from what previous gen I and gen II heads where. They did big press releases on how amazing the new desing was. How the tall runners could keep the velocity up while allowing for a 200 cc volume for top end horsepower. And they are awesome heads for a production vehicle. But it blows my mind that you can take a flat tappet cammed motor and some vortec heads and just about equal the power.

I'm running the same cam, hedman long tubes, and hooker cat-back.
But I've got Pro Lightning heads, you have any work done to yours?
What kind of carb are you using?
Compression?

Just for all you DD2000 haters...
I entered the engine into DD2000 and here's the HP and TQ curves I got.
Pretty close huh?
Granted the FWHP is higher because of the drivetrain losses, but if you figure ~17% loss, the numbers are damn close.
Good job on your buildup.

Here's the actual numbers from DD2000
What's cool is I'm going to be running a similar combo so I know what gains to expect.
Thanks for showing this.

I have that cam in my car and currently have a set of ported 416's on it. They still have the stock valves though so they are restricting more than your vortecs. I also have a ported stock manifold. I have longtubes with duals instead of the single exhaust too. I have a set of sportsman II's and a performer rpm intake that will will be going on once I get a chance to port them. The flow numbers for my heads(sportsmans) as cast was 239 and 160. I am hoping to be able to get at least 300 rwhp out of my car and your dyno gives me hope.
Good numbers. Oh, and what tranny are you running? Is it a super t-10. I saw the st-10 in your sig, but wasnt sure if that is what that meant.

The heads are stock except for the springs and dampners. I am running a stock non cc qjet (with a few free mods). Compression is around 9.7:1. I am even getting away with 87 octane. I am running the stock super t-10 with a 3.42 first gear and I cant get any traction. I took it to the track and ran a crappy 15.1 ET because I couldnt get any traction. This was also before I tuned my carb. I think with traction I'll easily be in the 13's. Keep in mind I am also at 3500ft elevation and its not as easy to make power up here.

good numbers.. a little jagged down low
I would check mixture.
But,, lets not forget, the LS1 does that while still runing a cat and passing emission.
If thats run was at 3500', i bet you a six pack that the numbers are corrected already. Otherwise,, kiss off about 6% hp.
5000' will kill 10percent hp.

So does anyone know what a 95ish z28 a4 with headers, flowmaster catback, gears and hypertech chip would run? I know I raced one and ran dead even with him till about 105 when we both let off. He actually launced before I did because I didnt know he was going to race, but I got on it and the front of my car stayed right at the back of his door until we stopped. I wish knew he was going to race because I think that if I would have launched I may have been able to get my nose out ahead of him. His exhaust only exited on one side but it looked like it was at least 3" pipe and he said it was flowmaster. That was the car that I have run the closest with so far but I have beat a 91 RS, a 89 Iroc, fox body 5.0, mid 80's Monte Carlo SS(pos w/ edelbrock stickers on it) and a couple more little pos's. I cant wait till I get the new heads, roller rockers, and intake on. It should be fun. I called to check on dyno costs because I was considering doing before and after dyno's on the car with the 416's and ported stock intake and then the ported sportsman II's and performer rpm, but it is 75 bucks a shot and i really dont have the extra money to blow at the moment(I thought that subframe conectors would be a better investment). My alstons should be here by friday.
