I have the regular hedmans designed for 82-92 camaros. They are not the hedman shorties, and I believe they are full length. They do not look like there is any way for them to fit. I cant send them back b/c it is after the 90 day peroid. Will they work?

i have a pair sitting right next to me..
i ended up getting edelbrock TES..
the longtubes WILL fit.. but you need to run some kind of a dual exhuast.. and that shop probably isn't willing to do a dual exhuast setup for your car.
oh it is POSSIBLE to get a ypipe made.. but it would probably be very expensive..
these are for certain people.. i found that out sadly after i had already bought them like you.
btw whats teh part # on your box?

I had the Hedman's (short) and their y-pipe on my car at one time, fit great. If you got the long tubes, then you'll have to fabricate a y-pipe.

I have full length headmans, they fit my car great. You will need to have a custom y-pipe made to hook up to the rest of your exhaust. It cost me about $130 at my local shop.

Yeah but u dont have all the emission **** that I do, its a bigger cram in my engine bay. I am just gonna save up and get some shorties, its not worth the pain to go through all that and probably not gain much HP

The primaries for the longtubes are 1 5/8" with 3" collectors.
Brandog87GTA, your exhaust shop is right is some sense. The headers will fight your car regardless of what emmisions crap you have. However, they take some finese, you have to remove the starter, and they don't clear the floor pans. The last statement it what the exhaust shop probably went by. However, the exhaust won't clear the floor pans if run right off the headers. Jegs sells s shaped x-tensions that are only $22, reduce the exhuast to 2.5" so you can run a y-pipe, and give you all the clearance you need to run exhuast and you dont' have to do a dual setup either. Don't be discouraged about going longtube just because people say they won't fit, cuz they will. There are plenty of people that have done them with much success and they are able to produce a lot more torque than shorties. Not to mention the y-pipe for the shorties is 2 1/4" pipe, not much better than stock, so you'd have to modify that anyways. But hey, if you are looking at getting rid of the longtubes I'd be interested in getting em!!

I had hedman LT and true duals before. If you love loud and hate driving the car then duals are cool...My got tore off by a manhole cover. Yeah it was low.
I like my TES, and 3'' hooker catback. Ground clearance is nice. Even with my new ground clearance I still can't get in my GF driveway....

Most muffler shops don't want to get involved with any custom work that might take some thinking and planning etc. It cuts into their profit margin. They would rather just pull some piece of crap off the shelf and bolt it on.
How much power your car makes or doesn't make does not concern them.
Hedman long tubes will fit. You do not need dual exhaust. The connecting Y pipe will have to be custom made. You can run it into and nice 3" or 4" single pipe exhaust system with good results. The pipes that come off the headers will have to be fabricated from mandrel
bent pipe pieces and welded together.
The common premade "S pipes" are not tight enough
radius bends for a nice fit.
You want the pipes to sit as high as possible as they cross under the cross member. The trans crossmember flange edges can be shaved with a cutting torch to allow the pipes
to snug up tight and not hang down. the left side pipe crosses over to the right side just behind the trans.
More mandrel bends and welding. There is even enough room for twin small case shorty hi flow cats.
This will take time and $$ and quality work to do it right .
Most production muffler shops are just not geared up to this.
Find a fabrication shop. Or an exhaust speciality shop or do it your self. You can buy the parts and pieces from
Flowmaster, Dyno max, and Magnaflow.
