What would make a TPI bog down when the gas is pushed?
I drive an 89 305 TPI 5 speed. Yesterday I went to push the gas and found that the car wouldn't move. The RPM's would not go up and would slightly move down. After sitting for a while the car would just cut off. I have a feeling that it is the fuel filter but it really isn't that old. But when the filter is clogged do you guys think that that sounds like the symptoms? Thanks for the help.
It could be the fuel filter. Also there is a chance that the computer is off. Mine was doing that last year and idleing really bad and I took it to the shop and it ended up somehow the computer calibrations were off. They fixed it for about 50 bucks. Then here within the last couple of months it did it again and I replaced the fuel filter and it is fine again.

Your cats could be broken too, and one of the pieces inside is blocking the exhaust outlet.

fuel filter
fuel pump (mine just died a slow death)
wires to the ecm loose
clogged cat
Mine also had a wire frayed on one of the injector boots which casued it to bog down and buck before it would take off. It could be a ton of stuff, scan it.
Are you getting any codes??

Thanks for the replys. I was right it was the fuel filter but it also burnt out my pump at the same time. To fill you guys in on the other things you posted... I have a new cat, my plugs are about 2000 miles old, I have run injector cleaner through the system enough and it still doesnt help, I have tried to unplug the MAF and it will start but it wont rev up at all. It will just sit there and then die. And the worse part was I had no codes to hint me in any direction. It is getting fixed now but they have to unweld my exhaust so it is taking forever. Thank a ton for all the help I really love this site it saves me money all the time.
