Why do i have to floor it to start it?

I have a chevy 350 in my 84 Z28 with a edelbrock 600 cfm carb, SOMETIMES i have to floor the car to get it to start. If it was sitting over night i do sometimes, or i can pump it like 3 times and get it to go, but if it shut it off and come back like 1 hour later it starts right up. AND when i start it when flooring it and i let off the gas it acts like it wants to die, and sometimes does. The cars run great once its started, plenty of power and everything.

I kinda have the same problem as you. Every morning when I start it up I have to pump the gas for a couple seconds before it starts up. It starts up fine after that.

sounds like the choke is closing too far, try proping the choke flap open when it's cold and start it, if it starts any better then that's probably the problem.

by going to WOT at start-up it forces the choke to open a little bit which will let the engine breath.

You fuel bowl is probably empty after sitting over night.

Sounds like a problem with your choke. I dont even have to pump my gas to get my car to start. No matter how cold it is outside. During the winter I could jump in and crank it over and it would start.

Maybe you could use alittle more tuning?

It's to open your choke. My Camaro, you have to pump it a few times, till she fires. Give it a few revs to about 3500 if it stalls, get some gas a flowin, shes probably fine
