valvetrain geometry........talking to YOU vader!
Ok somebody or vader.....gimmie the run down on valvetrain geometry. I have my new canfield headed lunati solid cammed 350 up and running, and my neighbor says my geometry is wrong. He says its wrong because when we pulled a rocker off to inspect the mark the roller made on teh valve tip the etched mark on the tip was not centered...........is that correct? So the mark needs to be centered on the valve stem tip? Mine was a little "up" towards the intake.........so that would mean I need slightly longer valves then? What effect does this have on overall performance........reliability.....ect....?? Thanx
well i'm not vader so you can't really beleive much of what i have to say, but if it were me i'd leave the valves alone and increase the push rod length. hell i might even try one of them new fangled length checking push rods and actually see what i need. i ithnk you can find pics and a good description in a comp or lunati catalog, or web site. i'd also run this all past mr. vader just to make sure i didn't steer you the wrong way.

Anytime someone (i.e. you) addresses a thread with someone's name in the title, it's rude.
If Vader's answer is the one you seek, use the force.
(AKA the
button, or the
button.)

have the mark in the center of the valve is a crud way of setting pushrod length. It will work but isn't the greatest way to do it.

Crower's new rockers look like his and also the new comp cam shaft rocker system was designed on his mid lift geometry theory. I am too lazy to scan his theory and directions on how to set it up onto the computer. Here is a good link that describes the mid lift theory:

read the brochure they have up there....just realize that they just didn't magically think of this. Miller just had it patented and they couldn't use it
