I have a 1991 Z28 and i'm just curious how hard it would be to run 13's w/the 305. the reason i'm asking is that my friends are saying that i would have to do some major work to the 305 to make it run 13's and that i should just drop a 350 in it or, run a supercharger. But i don't have the time or the knowhow to drop a 350, and i REALLY don't have the cash for a Sc. So, i figure if i mod the 305 i could afford it and i could spend my free time doing mods .
Thx for the imput

EDIT: i have 106k on the 305 and its an auto

It is possible. There is a guy here in OKC that runs like a 13.2 on his normally aspirated TPI 305. He has AFR heads and a heck of a cam and a 3K stall, headers and exhuast and a custom chip and runners, however, his baseplate is stock and he only has the 48mm throttle body but he does have 22lb injectors. Factory 3.23's it is very very fast. Saw him beat a 99 or 00 trans am.

This past weekend I went 14.44 @ 93.5 with a
near stock L69 305. In addition to last years
time in signature Mods that were added include: AL driveshaft, 1.6 rr, LCA's and
relocation brackets and BFG DR's. Have gone as high as 96.24 for top speed in 1/4. Motor
is bone stock except for the rocker arms.

Is it possible? What kind of question is this? Of course it's possible! Not only possible, but not difficult. A G92 LB9 5 speed car runs mid to high 14s stock. 13s is merely as far away as headers, a catback, AFPR, tuning, and free mods. The non G92 LB9 cars are about .5 slower stock, and have poorer rear end gears so that can greatly benefit from a gear swap.

I think you could run 13s with your 91 LB9 relatively easily. What do you run now?
To break into the 13s requires a trap speed of near 100mph, and in a typical Thirdgen that means at least 260 hp. Your LB9 has 205 hp, stock. To gain the HP necessary, you could do the following

catback
high flow cat
headers
AFPR
homemade cold air induction
intake porting
minor 'Do It Yourself' head porting
free mods
gear swap (swap the 2.73s for at least 3.23s, 3.42s would be ideal)

With the above, I believe 100% that you could hit 13s. That adds up to around $1000 worth of parts, but you don't have to do it all at once. With a cam swap in addition to the above, it would be damn easy, in fact.

wow i didn't know that i was that close to 13s, i thought i was a LONG ways away from em. Well, as for what i run, i really don't know. ( i really need to get the strip and run!) but i've "street raced" a few cars. Two weeks ago i raced a Riced out CRX (my friend) who has a 15.0 timeslip at his house and i took him by about 1 car. Yea, it wasn't the strip but, i can assure you by the end of the race we were well in the 100s. So, i'm assuming (assuming is dangerous) but anyways im ASSUMING that i run low 15s. I'm picking up my winter beater and everydaybeater tomarrow (90 plymouth laser turbo) so, the camaro will go in the garage shwere by spring i'm hoping it will run 13s. Too bad i think i already bought the wrong headers (edlebrock TES for a 1990 IROC w/3' y-pipe outlet) But, i'm hoping they will do the trick. now that i see 13s are possible i hope i'll reach them by spring!
thx guys for the info.
