exhaust smell and timming

My exhuast has a weird smell to it and my friend said he really noticed it the other day when I flew by him at WOT. Could it be running rich and should I adjust the timming.. Here are the mods if you think they could be making it run rich. and the AFPR is set at 47psi.. Thanks

If it smells rich, it probably is.

Timing has nothing to do with how much fuel is getting dumped in. Leave it alone.

Try backing off the fuel pressure. Tune it for best mph.

no track

We don't have a track around here so I took it down the road and went from a dead stop to a sign, at 42 it seemed to be slower at low RPM but had the same speed f 95 at the sign as 47PSI. Still had the same smell. I was thinking adjust the timming because of the extra fuel it seems to be getting. I don't know that much about timming and the effect it has( as far as advance and retard go)

I don't think it's the timing.... as far as unburned fuel in the combustion chamber's. But by browsing through you're mod's to the engine. I noticed you didn't upgrade the ignition system.

You're stock ignition system (if you're still running it), cannot keep up with those mod's....

Then RB is right. It sounds like you're fuel pressure is too high. What kind of Fuel Pressure Gauge are you using to determine pressure?

The cheaper ones don't give an accurate reading, as when I switched from TPI to Carb, my gauge used to 'spike' causing me to think the fuel system was faulty.... when indeed it was the gauge.

Is the exhaust giving any color? Or is it just the scent of unburned fuel? Try advancing the distributor a little bit just to see if it helps any....

Advancing the distributor is turning it counter-clockwise...correct?

At the base of the distributor where it meets the intake manifold. It has a C-clamp looking piece of metal that holds the distributor in place with one nut.
