how do u reset the ecm?

how do u reset the ecm?

do u just disconect the battery for 5min? thnks

Axle/Gears: 10 bolt, 3.23 non-LS
There is a small connector coming off the positive bat cable that is connected to the ECM. If you disconnect that for 30 seconds it will reset the ECM. That way you don't have to diconnect the Battery cable and loose everything.

easiest way without losing all the rado settings it to take your underdash panel on passenger side off (like 4 screws) and disconnect the ecm harness, 5 minutes is more than sufficient the ecm is "supposed" to reset after 30 seconds, but 5 minutes will ensure it is reset, and by disconnecting the harness you will not lose any presets and wont have to screw with the battery.

Attached note is the easiest way to reset the ECM. 2 seconds max... Unless later models (mine is '83) do not have a connector coming off the Battery connection.
