question about changing thermastat
hi im new to the boards, i just bought another formula,,ok my question is this im changing out the thermastat. but i cant get to the bolt my the manifold. i took all the proper hoses off to get to the bolt but i still cant its a tight fit can someone please help with this problem. the sockets i have cant get to the bolt even with an elbow socket.

There's no need to take anything of, to replace the thermostat on a TPI car.
Just use the right tools, and prepare to work in a narrow space!

When we replaced the therm. on my 88 formula... we only had to take off the intake tube going to the TB... everything else was just tight... just go to an auto parts store and find a socket that you can fit in there...

open ended wrench on the front one (between the fuel lines - be careful!) - distributor wrench (of all things) on the rear ... was the easiest way to do it without removing anything but the induction and upper rad hose...

Try using a wrench instead of a socket, and if you have 3 dollars to waste, and you REALLY need to get to the thermostat, you can bench the wrench at just the right angle (use the open end) and it makes it real easy, wrenches fit into places were socets do not
