Need Help Fast!
Ok so this is going to sound really weird. In all the years I have been working on cars I have never heard of anything like this.
Ok so when I put my car into reverse it starts making the clicking noise like a spark plug is arching somewhere. But none of them are. So I give it a lil gas while on the brake and it starts going faster.
So I put the car in park and it stops, revving it up a little bit . . . nothing. So I put it in drive and bring the RPM's up a little and nothing. I don't get it. It doesn't do it under load from what I can hear (I have my dump open) but I think I can hear it sometimes. And the car isn't running rough at all . . .even when it does it!
Now I know it's not a rod or a wrist pin. And I don't think it's a loose rocker arm because a loose rocker arm would cause it to do it all the time. Not a spark plug because none of them are arching.
The only thing I can think of is maybe the torque convertor bolts came loose (I worked on a jeep that did that one time, and it had kind of the same symptons.) But I don't know. If anyone can give me some insight that would be great
Thanks,
Sean

Does it sound like an exhaust leak?
If one of the motor mounts is worn, the eng may be moving enough to cause an exhaust leak, then re-seals when eng torque is removed/reversed.
If you have an engine driven cooling fan, maybe it's hitting something when the eng is torqued in rev gear.
