My IROC dont start

Back in december my car was runing. I was idling around 1000. I adjusted the IAC and TPS that took it down to 750. Then id started to spit flames out INTAKE. I was just a loose sparkeplug wire. When the wire was fixed it started but my foot had to be on the gas 2/3 on the gas to have it idle around 600 Now it doesnt start. Just turns over. have ample fuel pressure. TPS is set at .56 What is the problem. Only code it has is 12 and the light is on. (car just hasnt been driven since 96) Has new computer, fuel pump, rebuilt 700r4, rebuilt torque converter, and cap, coil, wires, plugs, filters. Tried some starting fluid. Any sugestions?

correct firing order? if i had a penny for everytime I mess one wire up i'd be rich. are you getting spark? check for that (with a spark tester or hold a screw driver inside a boot of a plug wire and ground the screwdriver (be careful of course) and have someone turn the engine over. if no spark i'd suggest searching for the 12 volt power feed to the coil, checking fuses, check the ignition module and also the pick-up coil within the distrib...

have you verified the timing is correct? what is the mileage on this engine.. if the timing chain is worn enough its possible that it may have jumped a tooth... very unlikely though.. but defently first place i'd look if the firing order is correct would be at the timing.. make sure u disconnect the ets bypass.....

The timing is correct. I had the valve covers off and cap off and when it was time for 1 to fire the roter was correct. Theres 14x,xxx miles on it. My father and I went out to work on the car this evening. We have come to the conclusion that when i was working on the car in december and heard a "clunk noise and then all the probs arose that the cat had blown apart and was blocking the exhaust. (have i remind you that the last time the car was in runing condition was in1996) so in return the car cant "breath". Also when we spay either in the intake it just runs out.

simple enough, unbolt the y pipe at the car, see if the car starts.. if it does theres your problem.. as far as setting the timing what do is it set at? base timing? total advance?

another posiablity is low fuel pressure b/c the sparkpulgs dont have any gas on them (we took a match to them). And the clunk noise i heard is spark knock. But i donk know b/c i have a new fuel pump.

spark knock doesnt make a clunk noise, its more of a marbles in the engine sound and normally only occurs under load at a reasonably high rpm... with a stock engine.. or basically any engine you shouldnt be experiencing those sort of problems at idle..

Well it cant be the fuel b/c its got plenty of pressure the way the return line was flowning. And all the injectors are getting power to spary and all open when i test them with a 9V battery. Im going to test all aspects of the ignition today. If any one else has more ideas please post them. The ignition better be the prob

Sounds like the same problem I had a month ago. Mine turned out to be the MAF sensor was bad. When it had happened I told a friend about it since he had an 86 T/A a while ago. He had the same problem and told me to disconnect the connector going to the MAF sensor and start it. It fired right up, Idled alot better, but check engine light was on cause of no MAF. Shut engine off, put connector back and engine wouldnt stay runnin for $h@t. backfired and everything. Went and got a new one and it idles perfectly, no SES light. Hope this helps.

Well the igntion checked out ok. Pickup coil, Coil, and module. I already have the MAF off so either can be spayed down the intake. This is
