Oh well, it was again that time of a year when I remember saying "man i'll never do this job again..." and yet I did
sheesh.. all of em had to change underneath the car.. "i'll never change them again"
Lucky me I got those little ramps that you drive your front wheels to, helped a little bit though.

well now tune-up for the next summer is done!

I just pulled my heads to have some work done to them during my cam swap. I bought a new set of AC/Delco rapid fires and will install them before I install the head, so I lucked out this time and won't have to try changing them with my heads in he car!

Just how skinny are your hands? If I managed change just one from the top that is good, but seven! I bet A/C and emissions delete help a lot huh?

Take off the AIR system and plug the manifolds with brass pipe plugs...much easier then!

Hmmm. How come everyone's engine compartment looks spotless compared to mine. I need a catch can like that also.

When I had my 383 and Hedman headers I found it easier to use a Snap-on deep offset box end wrench to take the plugs out instead of a socket. Even then then #6 and #8 plugs were hard to get at if the exhaust was hot.

Now with the big block #5 and #7 are terrible to access but I can get all 8 with a socket and ratchet. Removing the brake booster is next on my list of things to do.

It took me about an hour to change the plugs on the 454 in my truck. Edelbrock headers with AIR tubes. After ripping the tubes off and plugging the holes I can now change plugs in about 20 minutes.

Seven from the top is nothin...i did all eight! (I think it was the first and last time) I didn't have any ramps or a jack at the time, so the top was the only way. Oh yeah, it has all the AIR, emissions, air conditioning and all the other annoying stuff to deal with.

The only problem is I'm spending more time making it look nice than going fast, but it's also much cheaper It takes me about 3 minutes to change my plugs if a few are stubborn...

This is sorta strange - I got an official Goodwrench "tune up" kit mainly b/c I needed a good ratchet. But the 5/8 socket that comes with is is too thick to completely seat over the #5 plug! I went back to using my cheap-a$$ "benchtop" socket and it works great. The best investment you can make if you're going to change plugs is a thin walled socket and a 1" extension - I get them all from the top but there's no air crap.

engine swap and 4th gen seats in the works...

I have the emissions crap off of my car. It doesnt ahve any a/c either. I have "big ole bear claws" for hands as my friends say. i use the 3/8 uninversal joint while doin it and it makes it a snap. so even all of us "bears" out there can have hope

when I do mine, I use a shortened 5/8 socket (regular plug socket won't go under header tubes) I use a spark plug socket that has a hex end on it so I can turn it with a 3/4 wrench.

Man, I hear ya. Then LS1's and LT1's are so ****ing cramped in there, take forever to change the wires and plugs. Not a very fun job for just doing something so small.
