won't start
Alright, I just bought my 84 firebird. When I first got the car, it would start no problem, but now only a few days later it wont start at all. When I turn the key I dont hear any noise at all. Please post suggestions.

Before you do that, you should check to see if the application is correct. You dont want to blow out youre entire elec. system. Try jumping if you havent done so. The starter motor needs a lot of juice to run. Ive had it where the headlights, radio, etc etc all worked, but the starter wouldnt engage. much like the situation you described.

go get a test light and see if theres power to the starter solonoid, then if not check for bad ground, then check the park switch to see if the power is getting there and coming from thyere, and so on

this just in... Im an idiot. The friend I bought the car off of came buy to hook up his deck so he could get his cd out. It turns out that the shifter has to be all the way forward to start. even if its in park but not all the way forward it wont start. I feel so dumb as this is my first automatic.

There should be an adjustment on your neutral safety switch (under the shifter) that will correct that problem. Remove the upper console and will be that neutral safety switch alongside the shifter. There should be 2 screws (can't remember size, but small). Loosen them up and slide switch back just a little.
