Car stalls after cam swap

I got my engine all put back together with my new LT4 Hot Cam, and the car stalls and just can't hold idle. The car does however need have leaks at plenum to runner seals and the TB to plenum seals, you can hear the air rushing through so its a very severe leak. When I get this fixed it should fix the problem, right?

Definitely fix those vacuum leaks first. Cars don't like them. If there is still a problem after that, check to make sure that you installed your distributor correctly. You could be a tooth or two off.

The original problem was that the distributor was 180* off. But you guys think those gaskets will fix it?

Dan, not trying to be a smart aleck here, but that's kinda like asking "If I patch that hole in my tire, you think it will keep it from going flat?"

LOL, you're funny Mike, but thanks, I guess the engine can barely get any air and thus it runs poorly, I mean, VERY poorly!!

Actually, Dan, it's just the opposite. A vacuum leak introduces air into the engine that has not been measured by the MAF and so the proper amount of fuel hasn't been added.

You'd really be surprised at how a very tiny leak will play havoc with the idle of a TPI engine.

I had a very small one not long go that took me a week to track down (injector "O" ring) and before I found the cause, my engine wouldn't idle at all witout me taking the IAC out of the picture.

I had to crank up the "park" idle speed to 1000/1100, just to keep the engine running in gear at 800. Stalled at stop lights and was not only a royal PIA, but embarrassing too.

Before you start throwing parts at the problem, make sure it's sealed tightly.

Well, Kevin91Z discovered he also needs an eprom. You'll probably find the same thing.

Heh, Glenn thought the same thing i did. I wouldn't doubt that you may be able to get it to idle after the leaks get fixed but your probably looking at a new prom. Gotta admit, your mods are getting up there and only so much can be changed before something starts screwin up

-MSD 8.5 mm plug wires
-Problems every other day with the car (probably not a mod, but to me it sure makes a difference)
