strut idea

I got into an accident. the front had to be replaced and repainted. comming out of my driveway day after day eventually messed up the front skirt.I want to repaint the whole car and I want to keep my shine. I was wondering if I could replace the struts with those that make the car bounce up and down in the music videos (I dont want to make it bounce I just want it to raise the front of my car up while entering and exiting my driveway).I got 3 questions.
1-where can I purchase shocks like this?
2-will these shocks be good for handling also?
3-how hard is it to install?

those shocks that you refer to are called hydraulics....not something that you would want to do.. the ride in em are horrible and for the money they are so not worth the trouble.if your scraping front end then just adjust the driveway or your approach

I believe it's illegal for a Firebird or Camaro owner to put hydraulics on their car... the law says something about it being obscene.

I should put some tech in here, eh? Visit this website for an idea: http://store.yahoo.com/corvetteforum/aa-103-sc.html

About the best way to cure that problem is to just go in driveways and such, at a angle. This is very effective. Those hydraulics are very heavy from what I've seen in mags. Or you can just get a lift kit and make it look like a monster truck .

Hydraulics are mainly meant for lowriders and showing off. Looks cool in the Snoop Dogg videos, they also have bounce-offs. The front end can bounce up to around 7-8 feet. I think it's illegal for most street driven vehicles. Of course, nothings illegal until you get caught.......

Whadda bout airbags. They're cheaper and lighter and you can use softer springs and tune them with air......

Thats still expensive and blowing an air hose sucks.

Yeah enter at an angle. I just put TPIS struts on mine and it was much easier than expected, but more relevant to your post I don't scrape nearly as often. If you're only scraping the air dam, you need to rig something to brace it or just put up with buying new air dams every now and then. If you're actually bottoming out your car, chances are you need new struts/shocks and to practice entering at an angle. If you STILL bottom out, there's no real solution: using hydraulics to "bounce" the front end up a steeply angled driveway would likely destroy your car. I went up such a driveway once when my 5hitty car was down so I delivered pizzas in the ROC. I backed out and actually hit my tailpipes on the curb at the bottom - it was THAT steep. So...if you see an IROC in the South Bend, IN area with little crush marks on the bottom of the pipes - that's ME!

at least you know you have some options if you can't figure a way to drive in without scraping. Plus you might get in a Dr Dre video one day.

or you could go this route

I'm seriously thinking about drolics for the front of my camaro.
