LT4 head hardware fit into an LB9 head??

will this work. I plan on buying lT4 head hardware (springs, retainers, keepers, and valves). Will all this work on an LB9 head. Shimming won't be a problem I just need to know if something doesn't add up right.

Thanks,
Brian

The valves won't; they're 1.94" instead of your 1.84". The exhausts might be different too. The rest of the crap should fit.

Why not just get real parts instead of that stock stuff?

Of course I thought of that. I'm cutting the intakes to fit a 1.94 and unshrouding the chamber around both valves. I think the LB9s are 1.5 on the exhaust side, as are the Lt4s. I wasn't sure of valve length or If the guides would be the same on both heads (thickness of valves?)

I know it will work (work with the LT4 cam). Besides I can get this setup for about $90. You can't buy half way decent springs for that. I figure the budget setup would include an LT4 cam, LB9 58cc heads (pocket ported) with LT4 hardware. This is going on an L98 block with SRP forged flat top slugs.

I don't wanna sound like a ***** here, but there is a good reason for that.

Ok so your saying that LT4 heads have cheap crap? The springs handle the LT4 cam that I'm using. Why would I need anything else?? Just explain to me why I need new springs when these will work for my application.

I just want to know If everything CAN work. Thats it.

Ah man, dont worry about it, people on jere all have an opinion. If you can get a good deal on the springs and crap, and they are rated for that cam, then use the damn things. Just because they are cheap dont mean they are cheap, you know. Good luck

What you will end up doing, is spending a certain amount of money, and a rather huge amount of labor, on parts that are no better than what you already have. The LT4 parts are stock stuff, pretty much the same as what's on there. With the exception of the improvement in flow that might result from head porting in addition to the valve size upgrade (which by itself without porting will do very little), you won't make any imnprovement in the car; all you'll be doing is putting on a bunch of new the same stuff you already have.

In other words, you're in the rat race, running a great big maze, and there's only a little tiny crumb of cheese at the end.

I don't know about you, but when I spend my money and even more when I do a whole lot of work, I like to see results. Those parts won't give you any results.

Get better parts if you want to actually accomplish anything.

RB, I agree on some level but your dead wrong about replacing stock stuff with other stock stuff.

The valve springs on my LB9s max out at about .480 inches of lift whereas the LT4 springs can handle the .525 inches of lift that the cam has. The seat pressure might not be crazy but it should hold to 6000 without too much valve float. I'm a college student who busts *** working full time just to barely make ends meet. I can't afford to buy all brand new ****. I haven't seen anything used thats even close to a deal. I'm doing all the labor myself. The only labor I'll pay out will be the bowl hogging and raduising for the valves. Thats it.

So I take it from your arguments that everything will fit (minus the valves until the radius job)?

Yup, it will all fit; it just won't do anything to make your car any better, except for the valve diameter.

If you're broke, save your money, don't waste it on stuff that won't make your car better, just drive it and save up until you can afford to buy stuff that will improve your car.
