Is the LT4 production cam a good choice for my heads and header combo?

i am planning on using S/R torquer heads and edelbrock headers. at 140$ this cam is a steal...what do u think? if not do u have a recomendation on a cam? it is a daily driver and has to be Ct.emmisions and if possible not deminish my mialage.15in the city 21 highway

ZZ4 cam from www.sdpc2000.com , its $100. And your heads should already have the right springs to handle the lift.

You should be able to pass emissions with either cam.Your engine looks like it's more suited for the ZZ4 cam,but the LT4 cam will probably get better milage.I get about 14 to 15 mpg with my ported L98 heads and LT1 cam.

If i use (L98 engine)The GM High Performance Cast Iron Head 64cc(large Valve, 12480092),the Hooker Compatition exhaust, Flowmaster Cat-back, and freemods, which cam is better LT-1 or ZZ4, i am looking for an engine with torque and still some revs up to around 5500.

So I should be able to use the stock springs with a ZZ4 cam on my Torquer 305 Heads then. They both have the same 1.25" springs with 7' Chromoley retainers.

Use the springs that came with your Torquer heads, yes. Do you know what lift they support? Might want to check that out.

Definitely get the ZZ4 cam over the LT4 regular cam.

according to WP they r supposed to handle up to .600 lift.what kinda power increase should i expext as far as HP and et. estimates. if u wanna give it a wirl will that extra duration from the zz4 compared to the LT4 make a whole lot of diffrence as far as driveability emisions and mialage?

SDPC was selling the ZZ4 cam for $100, they must have stopped that sale.

Yes I still think the ZZ4 cam is worth it over the LT4 cam. The LT4 cam is basically a stock cam, and not much better than the L98 cam you have now. Since you're getting the higher flowing heads, get the better cam to go with them.

The production LT4 is a bit milder than the ZZ4, but if you want just a little bit over the ZZ4, the LT4 HOT cam may be what you are looking for.

I want to get a set of AFR fastburns and the LT4 hot cam to replace my "stock" ZZ4 heads and cam.

Of course I have to convince my wife that I really need them - she is already bitchin about the new accel intake and runners that I "need" to have.

Production LT4 cam:
I: 203 E: 210
I: .476" E: .480"

LT4 Hot Cam
I: 218 E: 228
I: .525" E: .525"

ZZ4
I: 208° E: .221°
I: .474" E: .510"E

Dont forget the lift on the LT4 cams (both of them) is shown with 1.6 rockers, while the ZZ4 cam is 1.5 rockers.
