Qs on the 416 head rework

I'm thinking about reworking a set of 305 (416) heads, with the 1.94 valve upgrade, porting etc.
But I already have a set of 041 heads that are pretty well ported.
I was wondering if someone could give me any further info as to whether or not there would be any actual performance advantage using the reworked 416s as opposed to the 041s.

I've been following the 305 porting thread... Thanks for your efforts, guys

041's are 64cc unless shaved, so you'll lose compression vs. 416's. That could be a significant power loss on a 305. The full SA porting treatment on 416's with 1.94" valves would flow as much as a streetable 305 would need.

041's are also pre-75, so don't have hardened valves/seats for unleaded fuel (unless so modified).

The devil's in the details.

In that case, make sure the 041's have the accessory holes you need, and hardened valves/seats highly recommended unless you'll be running only leaded race fuel.

I think I'll put the 041s on, then I'll be able to take my time about reworking the 416s.
I'll be able to try them both that way. And I won't have to wonder about it anymore.

what i did was, install 416 heads on a 350 std. bore, dished pistons, with a mild cam... and the edelbrock 1406 and a T5 tranny, it is not a 10 sec car but it kicks *** as it is, without the valve upgrade, ported and 3 angled only.
upgrade the valves on your 416's and use them on your 350, you'll feel the diff...
Fernando.

Mig- If you're still there...
The pistons you referred to, are they the factory dished or some nice aftermarket ones??

Thanks for all the replies, guys

stock dished pistons and stock gaskets.
compression is at 185 all over so i still use 87 gas.
