rev limiter?
I have a 91 trans-am, tpi, 305, and i just recently put a newly rebuilt and modified engine into it, acording to the ppl who built it, i shoud easly be able to take it up to 7000 rpm, but when it gets upto around 5300 it like dies out and just doesnt feel like it wants to go whether its in gear or park, what could be limiting it? thx

I'd imagine it's the rev limiter. Sure it could probly be able to withstand 7k rpm, but do you really need to go higher than 5300? At full throttle, my 305 shifts at about 5k.

I assume by your profile you have the stock TPI manifold on. If so there's your "rev limiter".

yup they are right if your running a TPI setup.. you arn't going to make any sort of useful power above 4500 or so.. if your running a cam that has a powerband up to 7k its very likely that it doesn't start making power until around 2500 of so.. if thats the case you need to look into a alternate form of induction as its simply not going to happen with a long tube runner system like a tuned port setup..

My 305 will rev up to about 5700, but I don't think it is making much power up there. If this odd? Runners and base are stock, ported plenum.
Maybe my tac is way off?
