v6 to v8 swap done help with a little problem
I went from fi v6 to carbed v8, all has gone well but now i have a small problem, I drove the car for the first time today. It doesnt hook at all, total loss of traction unless i lightly press the gas.(my 225 tires dont help much)
Problem is first gear seems REALLY long! and the shift from 1st to 2nd throws the car sideways hard even if im not on it.
Also, it stalled out on me twice at stop signs.
Could this be a TV cable adjustment thing?
Help guys please!

How high does it rev? Do you have a V8 tach?
Was there a shift kit in the tranny?

I dont have a tach at all, it just seems a little high. VERY low budget swap.
The guy said the tranny had a corvette servo in it and some other stuff i forget.
I guess its cuz im used to the pos 2.8 maybe?
Does the TV cable affect 1-2 shift at all?

Holley carbs don't quite have the right geometry on the throttle shaft arm for TV vehicles. Continue your search and you'll see what is required to get it right. One of the magazines (Hot Rod, Popular Hot Rodding, or Chevy High Performance - I get all three and forget which one it was) had an article on this very thing within the last year. I don't know if it is posted on their website or not.

Ok, I found a site that showed the correct way to adjust the tv cable. I couldnt search here very good (tv two letters) But it turned out where i had the tv cable bracket mounted was too far away from the carbs throttle bracket so the cable was streched too far and too tight.( guy i got the carb from gave me some brackets but none of them fit right) It seems normal now, ill go for a test drive tomorrow and see how it feels.
Thanks everyone.
