I need to replace my radiator...

...and I was hoping the experts could help me out a bit.

I'm just starting up getting into cars, recently bought a '92 RS LO3 automatic and of course the radiator dies. I want to replace it myself (and save a couple hundred bucks).

Where should I go to get a radiator? junk yard? auto parts store? if I go to an auto parts store can I order a used one, or is it worth it to buy a brand new one? anybody know the exact part # for a radiator out of a '92 RS?

any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

depending on what your problem is you may be able to get a radiator shop to fix it. i bought a radiator a year ago at auto zone, cost me about 130 for a new one and no you can't buy used at a parts store

I took it in for an oil change about 4 days ago, asked them to look at my radiator and see if they could do anything with it cuz it'd been leaking and I'd had to fill it up with water every 3 days or so... guy told me the radiator was shot and I should take it straight to the shop. I've been driving it for the past couple days outta necessity and it only takes like a minute to get up to 200 degrees... eventually settles and runs a little bit over 220 degrees and I'm starting to get really anxious.... the engine starts right up and the car will idle smooth at first, but now it starts shakin a bit when it starts gettin hot, dunno if it's the engine or just something loose or broken, it's definitely coming from somewhere up by the front. I just put a brand new engine in that only has 4000 miles on it, so hopefully something's just loose or the radiator's broken somewhere.

Stop driving it. When you get low on coolant, the temp won't read correctly. You could be running way hotter. Take it to a radiator shop. Chances are the core is the problem. Tell them you want a 3 row. Radiators are usually fixable, unless it was in a crash or something.

I found a Modine radiator at partsamerica.com for $103. It even located the nearest store to my house with it in stock (3 miles). I picked it up immediately.

I've got a "new" (never used) radiator for auto tranny that has metal tanks, not plastic, if you're interested. I say it's new, because I bought it to put into my car ('91) and messed up a tranny line fitting, and ended up going to get another radiator. In the meantime, I had that one repaired, so it's all ready to go for installation. If you're interested, e-mail me. I only want $50 for it, plus shipping...
