WARNING: Something I just noticed in classifieds

camaroz28.com has been having alot of problems with thieves lately so I've been extremly cautious lately.

I just noticed a new post for a complete TPI setup including superam for $400.00 OBO. Actually he has two MAF and SPEED DENSITY, The person at the other site had the same style(covering all bases). The person at camaroz28.com was pulling similar stuff and I think all persons sounding suspect should not be dealt with.

thanks for the warning, but i think this thread will get buried after a day or two and no one will see it then. this will send it back to the top at least for another trip down the page.

Was that on our board's classified section or camaroz28's? I saw an ad in ours about a couple of tpi setups, one MAF and one SD, and a superram...but the superram was just the plenum and runners for $550...that dosen't sound too good to be true to me, but It's good info to be aware of.

a few months back, I warned folks of someone selling a super cheap SuperRam and MiniRam set up. Might be the same troll.

maybe someone should try and get in contact with this guy and see what is going on. Or at least what he says is going on.

Well, I can't speak for the rest of you, but it your talking about the ohio automotive performance guy, I went and picked up a couple of heads off him last week for a good price. If it's priced too well, it probably is to good to be true. Maybe we can have a moderator compare their IP's?

sounds like a good idea. It would really suck to get 500 dollars ripped off you, even more if you are a teenager for who every dollar counts

a good way to get around this is to insist on paying by COD only (i hope you can do that in a private sale...) even give the guy $25 more to do so or soemthing if he doesnt want to

If you are unsure of the seller I suggest you use www.escrow.com it is an escrow service to protect the buyer and seller. The fees are low and it is great peace of mind, you CANNOT get ripped off using them.

Well not to stir up the pot any, but if I had something to sell, there is no way I would take some form of online payment or COD. Do you know how many times you send something COD and you get the box back 6 months later, beaten to hell? I've had that happen twice (well okay, not 6 months, but a LONG time!) and it wasn't for car parts, it was audio equipment, they freggin ripped the surrounds in half, I was PISSED!

It sounds like a case of inadequate packaging, to me. No, I must say that if you are at all unsure on either end, insist on COD. I recently did this with some tires, and the guy (who was unwilling to give me his whole name, except "greg" at Post office box #), decided to not sell them to me. Oh well, I bought some new tires the next day for a cheaper price anyway.

i've sold a lot of stuff to the members of thirdgen and none of them have complianed about me so far, or if they have not to me. i always want a MO first and ship priority signature required. i gto screwed once by ron riddle of rantoul illinois not picking up a cod. after that i don't ship cod with out getting the money for the shipping first. my son bought a set of dart heads once and the guy coded the shipping, but forgot to cod the cost of the heads. guess he's luckey, i sent him a check the next day.

I was not saying the person selling the TPI parts was definatly a thief. I just think we all need to be very careful who we deal with. This guy at camaroz28.com has gotten alot of money and it's bad par to not say anything. I've been doind business here for at least 3 years and I can honestly say this place is great when it comes to honest thirdgenners. But just be careful

I sell frequently on thirdgen, and as ede, I always ask for a money order or certified check in advance. Cross my fingers, but I've never had a difficulty. I too quit the COD (pain in the butt) and PayPal (wanted to charge me a business fee) alternatives.
