Intake manifold torque specs for 85 305 4 bbl.

Hi guys, sorry to even ask this, but the only reason I am is because I got two different torque values for my intake manifold. I saw autozones webstie tell me 45 ft lbs. I went to autozone, and just for the heck of it looked in a haynes engine overhaul manual, and seen it says 30 ft lbs. I know the sequence in which to do the torquing, but am just unsure of the correct ft-lbs. Thanks in advance.

Chilton 3rd gen manual calls for 35 ft.lbs.1979-85 Motor manual says 30 ft.lbs. so take your pick............

Ok so now we got 30, 35, and 45 ft lbs? LOL Sounds like i might as well not even worry about torque, lol. I think i will go with a happy medium. I'll probably do the 35ft lbs. Unless someone else has a tried and true torque spec they want to share. Thanks for taking the time to look that up for me.

Don't do 35 in one pass. Go 10 or 15 then go again with your final pass. I go 25 - 30 lb ft and have no problems.

From the GM service manual for the 1985 camaro. Torque value for the intake manifold for carburated and TPI engines is "25 to 45 Foot Pounds"

You can tell, it's real critical... "yes you are supposed to tighten them"

Start from the center on each side and work your way toward the ends as you near your selected torque value.

Just FYI, I usually use about one moderate arm on a 9/16 - 5/8 box wrench, or a 12" ratchet & socket, whichever tool fits. Now that's a pretty precise measurement.

Ok thanks a ton guys, I just got down tightening it down, and getting the valve covers on and the distributor back in. Wish me luck, i should be able to finish it up after work tomarrow. I know it will run, i just always worry about leaks when i mess with gaskets, even though im very careful. LOL.
