hey guys whats the weight difference between us and mustangs?

was curious of the weight difference between us and them being it takes so much less to make them faster in the 1/4 mile.

I thought it was only like 300-500 pounds. THat would equate to about .3 to .5 second quicker iin the 1/4.
100 lbs less weight=.1 quicker in the 1/4 as a rule of thumb.

That's what I've heard.
100lbs = .1 tenth on the average rear wheel drive car with 20% drive trans power loss.

in most cases it is less than 200 lbs.. A GT rarely is lighter than 3200 and most third gens are around 3400. The 94 and later gts are about 3400. But, 4th gens are about 100 lbs heaver than 3rd gens.

Why does everyone think that being lighter makes a mustang faster. The only way to make one faster is put about a ton worth of brick in the passenger compartment and roll it off a cliff....rule of worthless mudstains....

Don't forget, it depends if they are an LX or hatchback, and hardtop or convertible, and also AT or MT. There are alot of factors. a 5.0 5 speed hardtop LX would be the ideal model, as opposed to a 5.0 AT convertible, which would be the heaviest (and slowest) model.

damn rustangs....there is this guy i see all the time in a white vert 5 speed (i can only assume, but its manual) and I tried to mess w/ him on the higway one day only to get totally humiliated. so i was at the local dunkin donuts last night and the car rolls up, lopin idle like there was a ***** under the hood grabbin that 5 ohhhhh by the *****. one day, i will crap on him and he will then wipe my *** with that ragtop. but until then, mustangs suck like always and sound like a kitten growling inside a 55 gallon barrel. oh, btw i think he is faster than me cause he's lighter i gotsta get me a set of vortecs....i bet his daddy paid some fat ford dude w/ his asscrack hangin out the back o his pants to build his little motor for him....at least i build/pay for my own speed.

CamaroZ_85 said that some kid proabably had his dad pay to build his mustang well i know some kid that works for a ford dealership in the garage and he had a speical ordered motor from ford motorsport in cali i think it was. i mean i hate fords but this motor rips it. i heard he paid like 6-7k for the motor. i think he is driving a 86-87 LX and the motor is so big he can't drive with a hood on the car. I also heard the motor redlines at 6k or 6500 rpms. im just sayin i don't even think i would try and race him b/c i think i would just get smoked. just though i would share something on mustangs.also if i was this kid i would take the 7k dollors and buy a nice camaro!!
