Got spark, but no Start! pleez help :D
this past week ive been installing hooker LTs, with no experience. it was tough. anyways i got em in, hooked up the starter and all, and go to start it and no luck. so i get some starting fluid and i jump teh solenoid with a spark plug and boom, it starts up for half a second, and shuts off, key was in on position.
so i know i have spark,
so...here are the symptoms, car doesnt crank with key, injectors dont fire, fuel pump doesnt prime (not vats, its bypassed, and vats will let the pump prime)
also..i checked all teh fuses under dash, is there a fuel pump fuse somewhere? also, ignition switch is fine cuz all the accessories work in ON position.
what u guys think?
also...i had removed MC and booster, so i was under the dash messin around movin wires n stuff, i also have an alarm that seems to be workin fine.
pleeeeeez help....thanks Rick

Possibly the fuel pump/ECM fuse? Check near the radiator and battery for an inline fuseholder.

ill look around, but there IS a inline fuse from the hot lead screw that goes towards the starter, but its good...and the terminal is hot at the starter....soooo i dunno
edit: i forgot to mention i had to remove the brake booster to get headers in, and was under dash removing nuts, i could have loosened wires under there, a friend mentioned a Crank wire that gives power to fuel pump and solenoid....

vaders first guess would be mine as well. I know of the MAF cars it can be found right by the engine coolant reserve. It will be attached to the fender by a bolt or plastic hold tab. You need to address why the fuel pump isn't priming...I say the problem is in the fuel, obviously not spark or air. If you check under the dash, and see no pinched wires, then check the relay for problems and turn up with nothing, put the car up on four jackstands, and find the harness lead that runs back to the fuel pump. Have a friend turn the key, while you check for current. Consult a service manual for wire color information. If you have current, the problem is behind that (the pump itself?), if you don't have current, trace your way back through the entire electrical system untill you find out where the current flow stops, and there is your problem area.
Gee, then again, you don't have to listen to me, because it's obvious I know nothing about cars, ROFL, particularly the Fbody.

thanks...but what was that last part about dood?
it wasnt needed...
go to musclemotors, compare prices for parts for a camaro vs a mustang, mustangs are more expensive....my friends have them and they are WAY more expensive to maintain.
3rdgen camaros may have come from the factory kinda slow or disadvantaged, but thats cuz most were the economical 305tbi that i have. the 350tpi was by no means slow, even the guys at stangnet readily admit that....why wont you? ok wanna compare newer ones? LS1 vs 4.6....nope, mustangs lose by an even bigger margin, even with their true dual exhaust
, maybe if the hood was functional, they could atleast make it interesting.
once again, thanks for your help with the pump, but i thought id share my opinion on mustangs

if the fuel pump in line fuse was blown the car would still crank but not start.
the in line fuse holder is in between the radiator and the battery for the fuel pump.
maybe there is an in line fuse for the starter
