Original valve cover color ?

I have an 89 Iroc-Z with a 305 TPI. What color were the valve covers originally ? I don't think mine have been painted but they need to be. I am restoring this Z back to original and the colors are important to me. My best guess is "Argent" on the color but I'm probably wrong.

I don't think they are painted, just whatever alloy color it was/is....a grey-ish. But pretty sure not painted.

Hey Antoine, how ya doing? I'm the guy who bought your old heads from you.

Did you ever talk to your bud who had the scattered 9bolt?

I thought it should be black, like the rest of the engine, no?

Not black. They look like they are silver with a light tint of gold.

I think black was for the TBI/carb cars, TPI's were silver/grey.

Oh.. my '83 had black ones, I assumed later cars did the same. I stand corrected.

Why not just buy another set from GM?

Last time I checked, I think paint was cheaper than valve covers. Mine are not dented or rusty, they just need a good cleaning and painting.
